Catch One Of The Most Annoying Movie Musicals Ever This Week At A Wisconsin Drive-In

Personally, I'm a big fan of musicals. Guys and Dolls is a top ten movie for me. I thought Hamilton was excellent. My Fair Lady. Fiddler On The Roof. Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. They're all great.

One of the classics that I've never enjoyed is Grease. I'm pretty sure 95% of my resentment stems solely from Summer Nights. Truly an awful (and kind of creepy) song.

Please stop singing this song at karoke. Everyone hates it.

Well, not everyone. I know I'm in the minority here and I'm fine with that. It's obviously beloved by a lot and that's why the Highway 18 drive-in in Jefferson, Wisconsin is playing it this weekend.

Here's what else is being shown at the local drive-ins this weekend.

Highway 18 Drive-In - Jefferson, WI

They'll be kicking the evening off with Grease.

After that they'll play Grease II. Just kidding. No one wants to see that. They will be showing another classic movie musical from the 80s though. Footloose.

Hand up, I've never seen Footloose but Kenny Loggins is on the soundtrack so that's worth the price of admission right there.

SkyVu Drive-In - Monroe, WI

SkyVu is sticking with what's been 2 summer drive-in staples around the stateline this season. Starting with Jungle Cruise. A lot of people have seen The Rock and Emily Blunt pilot a ship through a jungle river this summer.

Then follow it up with one of the longer running movies this summer. Emma Stone's Cruella.

Midway Drive-In, Sterling, IL

Is Sterling closer than Monroe and you want to see Jungle Cruise? You're in luck because they will be starting with Jungle Cruise as well. After that they'll play the newest Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Rt. 34 Drive-In, Mendota, IL

Rt. 34 will be playing Ryan Reynold's Free Guy. A movie about a man trapped in a video game. It has gotten excellent reviews. It's been referred to as the best/funniest video game movie ever. A low bar but still encouraging. I want to see this as much as I don't want to see Grease.

After that they will be the third drive-in on this list to play Disney's Jungle Cruise. It's literally everywhere. Here's a different trailer from before.

McHenry Drive-In, McHenry, IL

As of writing this post, the McHenry drive-in had yet to announce their schedule. Last week they played Paw Patrol, which got surprisingly good reviews and the new G.I. Joe movie Snake Eye, which unsurprisingly has not received any good reviews.
