Years ago, a friend from out of town visiting Rockford during Alpine Kiwanis Brat Days asked me this question: "So, Rockford's idea of a good time is hanging around a parking lot and eating bratwursts during the heat of the summer? Really?"

Yes, I pointed out, that really is our idea of a good time, and it has been for over half a century.

Over The Last 50-Plus Years, Alpine Kiwanis Has Given More Than $2 Million To Support Our Local Community

Alpine Kiwanis gives away 100% of of the proceeds from the annual Brat Days, and that two million dollars has gone directly to our area's great non-profits, and to Rockford-area students in the form of scholarships.

All you need to do to make sure those donations keep rolling in is to eat your fill of brats over a couple of summer days. Is that so much to ask? I didn't think so.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
