Safe to say that it's been a bad year for NFL officials.

So you want to be an NFL official. Get ready for everyone to hate you, and I mean everyone.

NFL officials are in a tight spot right now. The game is changing to appease those who think the NFL is too dangerous and the transition has been rough. I personally think that the big hits are something we should leave in the past but consistency has been a huge problem for the current crop of officials.

They don't help themselves by being pretty unorganized as a group and the fact that none of them (STILL) are full-time employees. That's right. In case you didn't know the NFL doesn't employ their officials full-time, most have regular day jobs like you and me.

It also doesn't help when you have major problems on primetime TV like they did last night during the Lions-Packers game.

The game was full of inconsistencies, highlighted by two phantom hands to the face calls on the Packers' final drive to set up a game-winning field goal.

Here's just a smattering of the Twitter reactions to this one:

This one is especially funny because the Lions were penalized for having 12 men on the field about 2 plays before this one.

Folks, I could do this all day but we all have things to do.

I don't know how they can fix this but they need to at least appear to be trying to make things better.

Can't wait to see what's in store for next week.
