12 Wacky Things to See, Hear, and Do at a Rockford IceHogs Game [LIST]

This past Friday I went to my very first Rockford IceHogs game and I had a blast. Not only did they kick some Chicago Wolves' butt (literally), but I got to see and do some pretty exciting things. Who knew there was so much going on at a hockey game, other than hockey.

If you've been to an IceHogs game, you're probably familiar with a lot of these, but if haven't, here are some fun things you can expect to see, hear and do at the game. These really stuck out to me as highlights of the night.

1. Cowbells. Anytime something exciting happens, you have to ring a cowbell. Don't have one? They'll sell you one.

2. Fights. Who doesn't love a good hockey fight? There were at least 3 per period and I loved it.

3. The intermission music (and the music they play between plays) is on point. I was dancing the entire night. It certainly helps the time fly by when there's a time out or the game was stopped for whatever reason.

4. Sock Monkeys. It was Sock Monkey night; I didn't get one (sad face) but this lucky kid did.

5. Changing the words to Billy Idol's "Mony Mony" after the Icehogs score a goal. I had to ask about this one. What are they saying? "Here she comes now sayin Mony Mony- hey guess what your goalie sucks."

6. Chuck-a-puck. It's the hardest way to win a prize. Take one of these pucks, throw it on the ice and if it lands on this tiny circle in the middle of the rink, you win. I didn't win. I don't think I even hit the ice.

7. The Dance Cam. The Kiss Cam is cool but the Dance Cam is awesome.

8. Winning free food. We were sitting in the Jersey Mike's section. Got my free sub yesterday.

9. The Rock Out contest. What's better than watching two grown men rock out with inflatable guitars like a couple of kids?

10. You can be an Icehog.

11. The mascots. I spotted three. Hammy, of course. There was a guy dressed as a sock monkey that sat in the stands next to another guy I hear is at every game, so technically he's the third mascot. Have you seen the guy who is always dancing on the Dance Cam in the Icehogs jersey, hard hat and pig mask? That guy is awesome.

12. Burn off energy and create some at the same time with ComEd.

The IceHogs won that night, 6-0.
