You Could Win This Auction For A $50,000 Cubs World Series Ring And Wind Up With Nothing But $1
Just because you have 50K to blow on a piece of memorabilia doesn't mean you get to keep it.
This ring is currently up for auction on the Lelands website. It's currently sitting at $40,000 and is expected to climb at least another ten thousand. Reportedly being sold by an unnamed scout, it could be a one of a kind possession for any fan.
That would be IF you could keep it. The Cubs were very generous in giving out their first World Series rings in over 100 years but there was a catch to anyone who received one. All ring recipients signed a contract that said if the owner ever tried to sell the ring the Cubs could buy it back for $1.
The seller is currently anonymous but I don't think that will last for long. Theo's a nice guy but I fell like if you cross him he will do everything in his power to mess your day up.
So the moral of the story is to save your $50K and use it elsewhere, I wouldn't want to get on the bad side of anyone in the Cub's organization.
