If you're like me and not ready for retirement, you can call your next vacation to this town a "scouting mission."

My wife and I have been calling just about every vacation for much of our adult life a chance to check out the area to figure out if we're going to retire there.

Truth be told, we'll probably end up in Illinois but hey, at least it's nice to dream.

If the thought of leaving the family behind in favor of a climate that's, um let's say, "better" than the one we currently have in Illinois, then there's a place for you not too far away.

That's because Mediafeed outlined the most Beautiful US Vacation Spots Where You Can Actually Retire and one of them just so happens to be in Wisconsin.

The top 10 on the list are littered with places in Florida, which for all intents and purposes is the premier retirement state, but a few did make it in the midwest.

One of those midwest cities on the list from Mediafeed is Marinette, Wisconsin.

According to their research, monthly housing costs are slightly above $650, and just about 25% of residents who live there are 65 or older.

Vacation homes in Marinette are just under 30% and the average daily temperature is only 43.

So while it's not quite Florida, you're going to save money, and if being close to the family is very important to you, apparently, you could do much worse than living in Marinette.
