Time flies when you're vaccinating, it seems. It was a bit less than a month ago when COVID-19 vaccinations began here in Winnebago County. Now, with 10,000-plus healthcare workers having received their first dose in "Phase 1A"(based upon numbers provided at the Illinois Department of Public Health website), the plan to expand vaccinations outward is getting close.

According to a report from 13 WREX News, although Phase 1A isn't quite complete, the plan is to move to what's being called Phase 1B. Phase 1B, according to Winnebago County's Public Health Administrator Dr. Sandra Martell, "represents almost two-thirds of our county."

13 WREX News:

In fact, more than a dozen professions fit that category. Some of the people include teachers, corrections workers and inmates, the postal service, grocery store workers, selected manufacturers, agriculture, food service, and those 65 and older.

The 13 WREX News story goes on to point out that over 30,000 people have already gone online to register for the vaccinations (to be given when the registrant's number is called). However, how old you are, what risk factors you have, and even your zip code could play a part in you being prioritized for vaccinations.

On the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) website, they keep a running total of COVID-19 vaccinations in Illinois, even breaking it down county-by-county on a daily basis. They say that statewide, Illinois has 972,050 total doses. Of those 972,000, 384,658 have been administered. 83,065 Illinoisans have been fully vaccinated, which breaks down to 0.65% of our population.

In Winnebago County, the IDPH says that 10,305 doses have been administered as of yesterday, with 1.08% of our population (3,071 people) being fully vaccinated.
