When Taunting Goes Wrong

Webster's Dictionary defines "taunting" as:

to reproach or challenge in a mocking or insulting manner, a sarcastic challenge or insult. 

I would define taunting as something modern sports fans see way too much of. Pick your sport, baseball, basketball, football (the NFL penalizes taunting), hockey, boxing, you name it, there are those who are not content to let their playing do the talking. Some guys made a career out of taunting (nobody has ever done it better than Muhammad Ali), others have found themselves looking for a new career after the taunting thing ends badly for them.
