The American Cancer Society is looking for help in Boone County.

The organization's Road To Recovery program helps patients get to much-needed appointments for medical treatments via free rides provided by volunteers. The Society is currently looking for volunteer drivers in Boone County so all patients have transportation when they need it.

How does it work? Well, a little like Uber without the payment. The ACS says Road To Recovery volunteers arrange their own schedules. Some volunteer as little as one afternoon a month and others drive patients as often as twice a week.

Officials say an estimated 290 residents of Boone County will learn that they have cancer this year. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
