You've got your good retail owners, and like everything else in life, you've also got the bad ones, too. The good ones are the owners who look after their staff just as much as they look after their customers, like making sure their employees get to spend time with their families during the holiday season.

After witnessing major retailers compete with each other for years over "extended holiday hours," it's nice to see that some of the public backlash and commentary over that practice has convinced many of the big stores to give their people the day off on Thanksgiving Day 2023.

This year, it appears that in order to leave the house for a much-needed break from family and friends, you'll need a more believable excuse than you "wanted to get some early Christmas shopping done, and all the stores are open."
