Take the ‘Lemon Challenge’ for Dixon 2-Year-Old Fighting Leukemia

We all know the saying, "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade", right? Well, 2-year-old Greer Bond of Dixon and her family have been inspired by that saying to help raise money for sweet Greer's cancer treatments, all while raising awareness for childhood leukemia.

A dear friend of mine recently told me about Greer's cancer battle after she took the Greer Bond Leukemia Lemon Challenge with her educational philosophy class at NIU.

Greer Bond was diagnosed with Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on April 20, 2015 at 15 months old. Greer is now 2, and is still fighting this cancer monster. Greer's form of leukemia usually requires a stem cell transplant, which she is scheduled for coming up in May. Obviously a year's worth of cancer treatments, hospital stays and procedures, plus a transplant and long recovery time ahead have placed a huge financial burden on Greer's family.

This is why the Bond family has created the Greer Bond Leukemia Lemon Challenge, plus GoFundMe and Facebook pages to support it.

How the challenge works is simple. Slice up a lemon and eat it. If you pucker in the process, you pay!

Now, if we can all cause a craze and dump ice cold water on our heads for ALS, surely we can eat a few slices of lemon for this amazing 2-year-old undergoing the fight of her life!  Spread the word with everyone you know, and take the challenge today!
