Many signs are pointing to relaxed face mask requirements for Rockford-area students during the 2021/2022 school year.

Thursday's announcement by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask or stay 6 feet apart from others in most cases, whether indoors or outdoors, has been met with some confusion.

Even though Governor J.B. Pritzker is planning on making an announcement later this week about lifting further restrictions and reopening our state, don't start gathering up masks to throw out yet.
