We really seem to stack up at the door anytime a new restaurant opens for business, but when is the last time you visited an eatery that's been around since before Lincoln was president?

If you are considering moving out of the Northern Illinois area soon, please know there are certain things you will have to learn to live without...and you won't like it.

Jack in the Box is making a comeback in the Chicago area after being away for nearly 40 years.

We've seen a lot of this over the last couple of years, and this latest announcement of closings from another major chain makes you wonder who's next.

Depending on your age, you might remember Rax Restaurants, a chain that started back in 1967 and eventually grew to having more than 500 spots spread across 38 states, including Illinois. Rax doesn't have nearly the amount of locations that it once did, but if you're feeling nostalgic, there's still a single Rax restaurant left in Illinois and it's about a 90 minute drive southwest from Rockford.

According to additional bankruptcy documents filed last week, Red Lobster, which has already shut down nearly 100 restaurants in 28 states, is looking to shutter up to 100 more spots if they can't renegotiate the leases.

We knew that there were problems, but the bankruptcy announcement on Sunday, along with the closings of nearly 100 restaurants across the country (including Illinois), has many people wondering if we're seeing the end of a restaurant chain that's been around since 1968.
