Stroll On State Puts Out The Call For Volunteers
If you've been spending more time locked-in at home than you'd care to, here's a great chance to not only get out of the house, but also lending a helping hand with a great community event.
Our friend Andrea Cook from the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB) joins the WROK Morning Show every Wednesday morning at 8:35 for a rundown of the fun things to get out and see, do, and enjoy. She mentioned last Wednesday that in order to pull off Stroll on State and the various activities that accompany it, volunteers are very much needed.
Helpful hands are needed at Santa's Workshop to repair and create new decorations and props for Stroll on State, as well as take those decorations and deck the halls of downtown Rockford on Decoration Days.
Here are the particulars on what the RACVB is looking for at Santa's Workshop:
Santa's Workshop is located at 310 Winnebago Street in Rockford. Volunteers of any and all skill levels are encouraged to come out and help (no registration needed!) on Tuesdays from 6 - 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
COVID safety procedures are being followed at Santa's Workshop. Temperatures will be taken for everyone upon arrival, and masks are to be worn by everyone while working in the Workshop.
Volunteers between 12 and 15 years old are allowed and welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers that are 16-17 years old are allowed and welcome, but must have a signed waiver by parent or guardian.
If you have any questions about volunteering, please email KPaul@GoRockford.com!
And, for Decoration Days:
We'll be decking the halls in downtown Rockford on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21! Volunteers are extremely important to the success of the event and it wouldn't be the same without you! Volunteers between 12 and 15 years old are allowed and welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers that are 16-17 years old are allowed and welcome, but must have a signed waiver by parent or guardian. There are a variety of opportunities and have something for everyone! You can also sign up to help put the decorations "back in the box" on Saturday, January 9.
