SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — State officials are seeking nominations for the annual "Illinoisan of the Day" award.

The program awards people who display qualities associated with the Land of Lincoln. Officials say those include integrity, dependability, sense of community and strong ethics.

Candidates have to be at least 25 years old and have been involved in service activities, education projects and youth programs. The deadline to nominate someone is June 26.

The honors will be announced during the Illinois State Fair, which takes place Aug. 13 to 23.
