Rockford Police Conduct Death Investigation

Rockford police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in the street on the city's southwest side.

According to a press release, officers were called to the 2000 block of Loomis early Saturday morning after a report of a subject lying in the roadway. Rockford Fire also arrived on scene and unsuccessfully attempted to revive the man.

The deceased subject has been identified as a 52-year-old black male. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Officials say this is an ongoing investigation and no further details are available at this time.
