We see food product recalls happen all the time, and for varying reasons. Just a few examples of reasons for some food product recalls over the last 12 months would include:

  • Salmonella
  • E. coli
  • Listeria
  • Metal shavings
  • Plastic pieces
  • Plastic film
  • Metal wire
  • Rodent hair

The recall we're talking about today has nothing to do with any of those things, and it should be pointed out that not everyone who consumes (or will consume) this product should be worried about their health afterwards.

This Week, Frito-Lay Announced That They Were Recalling A Limited Number Of Tortilla Chips In 13 States That Could Contain An Undeclared Allergen

Tortilla chip lovers in Illinois, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia should take a few minutes to look through their chip-stashes to see if they might have the recalled product, then either throw it away or take it back to the place of purchase for a full refund.

You're looking for Tostitos. Not all Tostitos, just one variety in particular.

An "Undeclared Milk Allergen" Is The Culprit Behind The Frito-Lay Recall Of Tortilla Chips

The Tostitos product you're looking for is Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips, and they're being recalled for the same reason that Frito-Lay initiated a recall last December on certain bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips.

It's not that there's anything wrong with the Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla chips, it's just that another type of chip may have gotten mixed into the bags. There's a chance that some nacho cheese tortilla chips could be in the bag, and the cheese contains milk, which is the undeclared milk allergen.

If you're someone who does not have a dairy allergy or a sensitivity to milk/milk products, you'll be just fine if you eat the tortilla chips.

If you do have those sensitivities, here's what you're looking for, according to Health.com:

    • Product Description: Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips
    • Size: 13 oz.
    • UPC: 28400 52848
    • Guaranteed Fresh Date: May 20, 2025
    • Manufacturing Codes: One of the following Manufacturing Codes, where “XX” is any number from 30 to 55: 471106504 18 13:XX; 471106505 85 13:XX; 471106506 85 13:XX; or 471106507 85 13:XX
