We've all heard it, and maybe you've even said it, too: "There's nothing to do in Rockford!" Our friends at the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB) put in a lot of time and effort to prove over and over again that that statement couldn't be more wrong.

Andrea Mandala from the RACVB joins Joe Dredge and me every Friday at 8:30 on the WROK Morning Show, bringing with her a big list of events and happenings from all over the Rockford area. Week after week, she usually has more things to tell us about than we have time to talk about. If there weren't anything going on around here, the segment would be pretty short.

The RACVB also knows that showing you something has a greater effect than just telling you about it, so they've got a YouTube channel that's chock full of beautifully shot, high-definition videos that take you up close and personal with many of the things that have Rockford buzzing.

Their latest offering is a tour of MercyHealth Sportscore Two:

A 180-acre facility that has been nationally recognized for hosting soccer, volleyball, rugby, pickle ball, Ultimate, football, basketball and adapted/wheelchair sports. The venue has been designed for year-round tournaments, camps and leagues. The Indoor Mega Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two includes a full size (120 yard x 80 yard) turfed field (the equivalent of four indoor soccer fields) with 70 foot ceilings. The existing Indoor Sports Center is converted to turf on both sides. There are six new outdoor turf and multi-purpose lighted fields and turf and lighting in the Wedgebury soccer stadium (features 2,000 seats). Expansion plans have begun and include: new synthetic turf field, new lighting system (NCAA professional level), new pathways and restroom building, upgrades to bleachers and press box.
