What's Up, Doc? is a weekly health segment on WROK sponsored by MercyHealth. Each week they highlight a different doctor/healthcare professional to come on our show and talk to us about their specialty. It has turned into one of our favorite segments. All of our doctors have exhibited a "human" side that people don't always get to see with their physicians. We encourage you to check out some of our past episodes here. We've done about 30 of these segments highlighting everything from Lyme disease to hernia repair to finding a health care plan and everything else in between. We've learned a lot and hope you can too.

This week we take a break from the nerdy, sciencey doctor stuff and instead take a look at the never ending whirlwind of excitement that is choosing an insurance plan.

I kid, but today's guest Andy Jones did his best to lend some advice on wading through the murky waters of health insurance.

The main reason Andy was on today is because we are currently in the open enrollment phase to apply for medical insurance if it is not provided by your job or Medicaid. If you fall into one of these categories, it is officially time to get going on securing your health insurance for 2022.

It can be confusing. There are gold, silver, and bronze levels. Family plans. Individual plans. There are a lot of moving parts that can intimidate and cause people to avoid making this important decision.

Don't let that be you. Reach out to someone like Andy and get things in line before the enrollment window closes.

We thank Andy for his time and look forward to next week's What's Up, Doc?

A new What's Up, Doc can be heard every Thursday morning at 8:35 on 1440 WROK.
