Long Time Stateline Politician Suddenly Resigns From His Springfield Duties
After serving Boone and DeKalb counties for 15 years in Springfield, a long time Stateline politician has announced he will suddenly resign.
State Representative Robert Pritchard (R) whose legislative district covers DeKalb and Boone counties has announced late in 2017 he would resign after his term expired in early 2019. However, today, he changed course and announced he will now resign much earlier.
A published report on Tuesday indicated that Rep Pritchard will not serve out the the remainder of his term, but instead will resign effective on July 1st.
Speculation about the sudden resignation centers on the possibility that Mr Pritchard may be appointed to a seat on the NIU board of Trustees.
Rep Pritchard last term will filled with controversy as he was one of the few area Republicans to support the 32% permanent income tax increase. It was shortly after his vote, that he announced his intentions to not seek another term.
It is unknown as to who will fill out the remainder of his term.
