The Winn-Rock Youth Police Camp was created through a collaborative effort between the Rockford Police Department, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, and Rockford Police Benevolent and Protective Association Unit #6.

The Winn-Rock Youth Police Camp runs from July 8th through the 12th at Rockford University and is open to kids 12-16 years old.

The Winn-Rock Youth Police Camp is a structured, week long residency program where Rockford University houses the kids in the dorm rooms on the campus. Kids in the camp will follow a model of discipline which includes paramilitary drills, physical fitness exercises and time in the classroom. In the classroom, kids will go over resisting peer pressure, dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, hygiene, team building principles, leadership and other skills.

There are only a handful of spots still open for this year’s the camp, but anyone who is interested should click here.

Oh, and they haven't forgotten about you grown-ups:
