U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) has a long list of items he wants addressed now that his party is taking control of the Senate.

Kirk thinks the Republican-controlled Congress will be able to act on legislation to repeal the medical device tax and impose new sanctions on Iran. But he first wants to see approval for a long-stalled oil project.

“The big things that I see coming up (are) approving the Keystone Pipeline,” Kirk said, “which as you know, finishes in Illinois. That would unlock a lot of jobs in the United States.”

Kirk also says he wants to help Illinois facilities in his new role as chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, singling out the need for upgrades at the VA hospital in Danville.
