Old Farmer’s Almanac Predicts Hot Winter for Missouri & Illinois?
I will believe this when I see it actually happen. There are reports that the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting a warm and dry winter for both Missouri and Illinois. Let's dig in and see if that really is true.
I went directly to the source and can confirm that the Old Farmer's Almanac has just issued their forecast for the upcoming winter for both Missouri and Illinois. If you're thinking "hey, I thought you already shared the Farmer's Almanac forecast for Missouri and Illinois winter?", you're correct, but that's the "New" Farmer's Almanac and not the "Old" one. They are both wildly different in what they say will happen this winter.
The Old Farmer's Almanac has a specific forecast for what they term "The Heartland" which is us, by the way, meaning Missouri and Illinois. Here's the short version: They claim that both Missouri and Illinois will be dryer and warmer than normal.
Here's the long version. Missouri and Illinois will be coldest (according to them and common sense) in late January and early February. The same can be said about snow. The Old Farmer's Almanac says that most of the snowfall Missouri and Illinois get will be late January into early February.
Last winter was rather mild by normal Missouri and Illinois standards, so time will tell if we get a repeat (or maybe better?) for the end of 2024 and start of 2025. I hate snow shovels, so I will be optimistic.
