Illinois Start Time For Sunday Against Loyola Announced
The Illinois Men's basketball team took care of business against Drexel in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon and now they know who and when they'll play next.
Loyola-Chicago is the team that stands between the Illini and a trip to the Sweet 16. A made for TV matchup for sure. Loyola was the national darling 3 years ago when they made a run to the Final Four. Sister Jean was everyone's favorite chaplain.
Fun fact. Loyola is the only school from the state of Illinois to actually win the national title. It was in the 50s but that still technically counts. They are playing with a little chip on their shoulder. They received an 8-seed in the Tournament when many thought they should be placed higher. They also would surely like to show the country that there is more than one great college basketball team in the state of Illinois this year. It should be a lot of fun.
A lot of storylines are in place when the two teams square off tomorrow morning. They have drawn the early slot with an island game at 11:15 AM. That means that they will be the only game played during their game's window. The whole country will be watching and will hopefully get to know a few more of these special Illini players.
We'll have the game right here on 1440 WROK. Pregame will start at 10AM. If you're new to the team, please read our Beginner's Guide To The Illini to get you ready. This is a special team that is looking to leave a legacy. Don't miss a minute of the action.
