You've been invited to a high school student's graduation party. How much money do you give as a gift?

That's the question anyone who hasn't been to a graduation party before must be thinking about.

I tried to think about how much I received when I graduated from high school, but I can't remember. Surprising, because I thought I'd receive memorable tons of money just for making it through high school.

Thankfully, LoveToKnow may have the answer we're all looking for. They say "siblings of the graduate $15 to $30 is appropriate, while grandparents, aunts and uncles should give between $20 and $50. More distant relatives and family friends can give as little as $15 all the way up to $50."

I believe graduation gifts should be considered like wedding presents. If you have the dough, give some up as a congratulatory gift. If things are tight, don't forego this month's electric bill in order to make someone happy. It's hard to be happy for someone while sitting in the dark.
