Here’s How To Get Illinois Tollway Summer Construction Updates

If you're planning a road trip this summer and using the Illinois Tollway, here's a way you can find out the latest information on road construction.

I was going to visit some friends in Naperville a couple of weeks ago. From Rockford, the best way to get there is I-39 to I-88.

Even though there are tolls on 88, it's the fastest and easiest route. Usually smooth sailing.

Well, I got to DeKalb and there was road construction for several miles. In fact, all the way to Sugar Grove.

That made for a very long drive. I was late to the party. I wish I would have known in advance. Then I could've left earlier or found another way to go.

Only if there was a way to find out about summer construction delays.

I've got some good news, there is.

The Illinois Tollway uses Twitter.

According to illinoistollway.com,

"Tollway Trip Tweets include information about the type of incident, the location by nearest crossroad and milepost, and the subsequent impact on traffic, such as lane closures."

They will also pass along accident information.
