The Forest City Queen and Trolley 36 could also be discontinued to help the city meet its budget.

RRStar -  The district should sell or lease land and buildings with no recreational value and explore the privatization of some iconic attractions, including Magic Waters, Forest City Queen and Trolley Car 36. It should also consider consolidating ice-skating operations and closing one of its two ice facilities.

Fee increases are being proposed for the district’s five golf courses. Elliot and one additional course could close in 2020 depending on 2019 golf revenues.

None of these ideas are set in stone but it's safe to assume that at least a few of the proposed ideas will come to fruition by next year.

The Trolley already was saved this summer in the eleventh hour by some generous donors.

It's not all doom and gloom, however. The Park District is listening to its residents and will begin to divert funds into programs that they want them to.

Decisions on the proposed cuts could be made by as early as Sept. 11.
