The NBA champion is true to his Rockford roots by supporting not only his fans in the forest city but his neighbors too. Fred, who still calls Rockford, Illinois, is doing great things off the court in the city as well.

Fred VanVleet has made sure kids have toys for Christmas, new shoes and backpacks for school, and turkeys for families for Thanksgiving.

THE GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS

The bad news first? Fred VanVleet will not physically be on the assist with the 500 turkeys as the Toronto Raptors will have a game that day.

The good news? Despite FVV being on the road, 500 families will still get a turkey this Sunday, November 21, from 1-4 PM.

Fred VanVleet's crew at his store coincidentally named The Fred VanVleet Shop will be making sure these 500 families are set for Thanksgiving. Not only will they get the bird for the upcoming holiday, but sides will also be provided as well.

Fred VanVeet's turkey drive will happen for the fourth consecutive year at his storefront at 328 E. State Street in downtown Rockford.

Like previous years, the turkey and sides will be provided on a first come first serve basis.

Also, do not forget, this is for families who might otherwise not get the turkey and fixings for the upcoming holiday.
