You already know that WROK is your radio home for Fighting Illini football and basketball as well as the daily "Illini Today" report. But what's an Illinois fan to do when those two sports are out-of-season?

For those who bleed orange-and-blue, the Rockford Area Illini Club's annual Spring Dinner is coming soon.  It'll be held on Wednesday, May 21 at Forest Hills Country Club with featured guest Steve Raquel. Steve is a former Chief Illiniwek and is slated to talk about the traditions surrounding the Chief, his time as the Chief, the Council of Chiefs and the Honor the Chief Society.

The RAIC's annual Bill Branom Illini Spirit Award will also be presented at the event.

Cocktails will start at 5:30 p.m., with dinner starting at 6:15 p.m., and the program at 6:45 p.m. All alumni and friends of the University of Illinois are invited. You need not be a member of the Rockford Area Illini Club or even an alum of the school to be there.

For reservations call Jim Waddell, RAIC President, at (815) 621-5424 by May 14.

And if you're counting the days, the first Illini football game of the season is August 30, less than four months away.
