Fisherman Nearly Impaled by Angry Marlin

I guess I never considered the possibility that a Blue Marlin might be a reader. Perhaps, like many of us in school (see what I did there? School?), this marlin was forced to read Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea. And, unlike me (and many of my fellow students), this marlin actually retained some memory of what the book was about.

How else can you explain how the fish reacted to meeting up with some fishing pole carrying Aussies and their boat on New Years Day?

Okay, I will grant you that perhaps the blue marlin was just struggling to get away, and didn't mean any harm...but I really hated The Old Man and the Sea, so you think what you want, and I'll do the same.
