Top Illinois Children’s Museum Focuses On Engineering

The snowboard, water slides, running shoes, the ferris wheel and virtual reality...all things invented by engineers! Engineers play a vital role in innovating solutions to global challenges that impact future generations. By working together to develop new technologies, products, and opportunities, engineers create new possibilities that make the world a better place. Local engineering feats will be showcased at Discovery Center Museum on Saturday, February 25th from 11AM to 3PM to celebrate National Engineers Week- February 19-25.

Discover Engineering features engineers from local companies, along with members of the local professional engineering societies and high school robotics teams, providing demonstrations, hands-on activities and general information. The event offers elementary and middle school-age children the opportunity to take part in numerous experiments and hands-on activities such as designing and testing bridges, experimenting with circuits and motorized gears, participating in chemistry experiments, building and launching catapults, and much more! So set your brain on "try-it" mode and prepare for some fun challenges!

Discover Engineering is sponsored by TAC Rockford, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers - Rockford Chapter, and the Illinois Space Grant Consortium. Cost is included with Museum admission - $10 adults; $10 children ages 2-17; and free to Museum members and children age 1 and younger.
