Del Monte Recalls Vegetable Trays Sold In Illinois
You might want to double check that crudite before setting it out for your next party.
WREX - The Food and Drug Administration said the recall involves Del Monte Fresh 6 oz, 12 oz and 28 oz vegetable trays containing fresh broccoli, cauliflower, celery sticks, carrots and dill dip. The trays were sold to select retailers in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The recalled vegetable trays are a result of 78 cases of an intestinal infection that is caused by a parasite.
The trays were sold from Kwik Trip, Kwik Star, Demond’s, Sentry, Potash, Meehan’s, Country Market, FoodMax Supermarket, and Peapod.
If you have one of these trays you can call the Del Monte customer service line at 1-800-659-6500 or email them at Contact-US-Executive-Office@freshdelmonte.com.
I don't see this ending well for Del Monte. Most people that buy a vegetable tray don't store it in the fridge for later use. It's usually bought on the way to a party or set out on the day of purchase.
At the very least this can point some people to a reason why they may have gotten sick the past week.
Good luck to Del Monte. This is why I only eat things at a potluck that come out of a slow cooker. That and cocktail weenies are far tastier than vegetables.
