DeKalb Property Might Be Nicest Illinois House For Under $1M
I've done a few of these "really nice houses in Illinois" posts and this one in DeKalb has to be the nicest one under a million dollars I've ever seen.
The residence in question is located at 9 Arrowhead Lane in DeKalb, Illinois and it is impressive.
This is part of the intro on the real estate page:
This extraordinary Harry Weese designed home with pool and tennis court is situated along the Kishwaukee River with mature oak trees offering privacy and tranquility only 65 miles from downtown Chicago. The stunning main level with teak and oak floors has a full height stone fireplace, soaring ceilings and large windows providing abundant sunlight. Bluestone pavers at the entrance extend to the patio and multiple decks cantilever over the river blending the interior and exterior environment.
This place is so nice it has things I don't even know about part of it's opening description. Who is Harry Weese? Is teak good? Bluestone pavers? Cantileving decks?
I might not know what all those terms mean, but I know they look good because just take a look at what you're getting for $899,000.
A massive open floor plan with what I'm assuming are teak floors. An abundance of windows show of the natural beauty of the property. This looks like a living room from a really rich show.
A massive sunken couch gives this a great vibe. I'd put a TV above the fireplace, but that's just me. I've wanted a sunken couch ever since I saw Don Draper's living room in Mad Men.
Massive kitchen (possibly teak) with more counter space than you'll ever need. A delightful kitchen to work in.
Master bedroom is understated but still nicer than basically any room I've ever slept in. It also has a walk out deck. That is awesome.
Now that's a double sink! What design style is this? I'm getting a southwestern cabin vibe to it but I don't think that's it.
That's a whirlpool you see in the back ground there and the little side spa/whirlpool room looks pretty tranquil and and something I'd use through the entire winter.
Good news, you don't have to actually go to work anymore because of COVID. Even better news, you get to work in a home office like this in your open air balcony. Pretty nice.
Open walkways connect the upper level to the cantilevered decks. I've never seen a house like this.
Two more bedrooms. Looks like someone is a Bears fan. Probably sick about Matt Nagy.
I'm a sucker for a spiral staircase. Screams elegance in my opinion.
Top it all off with a leaf shaped pool and a tennis court and you don't really ever have to leave this place.
Apparently this house has only had 2 other owners and you can see why, this isn't a property you buy to flip, it's where you settle down for a while. Need a new place and have about a million dollars to spend on a house? You can't find anything better in Illinois.
