Culver’s April Fool’s Joke Burger Is Going On Their Menu (For A Day)
Culver's joked about a cheese-curd centered offering on April 1st of this year (April Fool's Day), but apparently enough people reached out to them saying they'd try it that Culver's is actually going to add it to their menu. For one day.
That day will be October 15th, otherwise known and heralded as National Cheese Curd Day. If you just said "Everybody knows that October 15th is National Cheese Curd Day," you're probably one of the people who let Culver's know you'd go all-in on this concoction. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
So, What Exactly Is A Cheese Curd?
If you thought that a cheese curd was simply some cheese that has had breading slapped on it, I must tell you that there's a lot more to it than that. No less an authority than WisconsinCheese.com defines cheese curds like like this:
Cheese curds are little bites of cheesy heaven. They're small pieces of curdled milk, roughly the size of peanuts in the shell, with a mild and cheddar-like flavor. Fresh cheese curds have a rubbery texture that causes a squeak when you bite into them. Curds are often eaten plain or with herbs, garlic, and spices. Fried cheese curds are also popular.
Culver's Is Just Going To Throw Some Cheese Curds Between Two Buns? That's it?
Although their original April Fool's Day take on the CurderBurger did just feature a giant cheese curd "patty" between two buns, the ones that Culver's will offer up on October 15th will have a big fried cheese puck sitting on top of a Deluxe ButterBurger (which has American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and mayo). It's hard to believe that the French hold Americans in such culinary disdain, isn't it?
