If you call yourself a "cold weather lover," then a new report out confirms what you already knew--for cold weather and all that comes with it, Chicago is the spot. If you despise freezing temperatures and what they bring, head for Orlando, Florida.

Personal finance site WalletHub is out with their rankings of "2017’s Best Winter Holiday Destinations," and they break it down into cold weather and warm weather getaway destinations.

Here's what they looked at to come up with their numbers:

WalletHub’s analysts developed a ranking of the cheapest U.S. destinations that are also the easiest to reach. In total we analyzed more than 60 of the largest metro areas — grouped as “warm” or “cold” — based on 32 key metrics, including two weeks of flight data, safety indicators and weather predictions.

Compared with other rankings that focus on each destination’s scenic quality, this report focuses primarily on the cost and convenience of traveling to each location as well as its affordability. It also ensures that the number of attractions and variety of activities in each destination will keep everyone busy and entertained throughout the trip.

First, for those who hate the cold here and love the warmth of the southern United States, we'll look at the top 5 warm weather spots:

1) Orlando, Florida

2) Las Vegas, Nevada

3) San Diego, California

4) Austin, Texas

5) Los Angeles, California

For the heartier folk who don't mind a samurai sword-like wind slashing through their outer (and under) wear, here's the top 5 cold weather destination spots:

1) Chicago, Illinois

2) Portland, Oregon

3) Washington, DC

4) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
