Here is a Throwback Thursday that will have you singing that old familiar theme song all day.

According to NHL it was 42 years ago the the Chicago Blackhawk greats, laced up their skate and went to work against Big Bird, Ernie, Bert and Cookie Monster at the old Chicago Stadium.

So here was the set up, the Blackhawks were having their annual holiday party and the Sesame Street gang were in Chicago for an appearance. So why not break out into a full fledged hockey game against each other?

So in 1975 this special Chicago Blackhawks team consisted of:

  • Tony Esposito
  • Pat Stapleton
  • Gerry Pinder
  • Ray McCray

Versus the Sesame Street team of:

  • Ernie
  • Bert
  • Big Bird
  • Cookie Monster
  • Grover

Sounds fair right? The Blackhawks did in fact have a "real" game that evening that they won, defeating the New York Islanders.

No word if the two teams hung out together after and learned to count together.
