Visitors to the Laurent House will have an extra special experience this Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7. The foundation is celebrating what would have been Frank Lloyd Wright’s 148th birthday and the first anniversary of the Laurent House opening as a public museum.

What's in it for you? Well, how about birthday cupcakes and refreshments on the patio!

Tours of the Laurent House operate every first and third weekend of the month and depart from Midway Village Museum, at 6799 Guilford Road in Rockford. Tour reservations can be made through at laurenthouse.com.

According to a press release, Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Laurent House for Kenneth and Phyllis Laurent in 1949 and it was built in 1952. Wright developed an uncharacteristic friendship with the Laurents and maintained close contact with them in the years after the house was built. The Laurents participated in his birthday celebration there every year until Wright’s death in 1959.
