Considering the excitement and the sheer number of people in Milwaukee last night, things were pretty calm. I mean, take a look at this crowd outside the arena that was there just to be close to the action.

The Bucks won their first championship in 50 years thanks to 50 points from their, soon to be, super-duper-duper star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Overnight the Greek Freak cemented his status as an all-time great and a media darling. His post game press conference was littered with memorable moments.

He called out other NBA stars for deserting the team that drafted them to go make super-teams in other cities.

He gave inspiration to millions around the globe.

And even jokingly asked his GM to trade him.

His earnestness is infectious and not an act. Here's an interview of an 18-year-old Giannis in Greece doing his first interview ever in English and it's basically the same guy just with more hair and about 75 pounds less muscle.

Here's what he accomplished in the NBA Finals:

  • Averaged 35 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists on 62%(!) shooting
  • Two back-to-back 40 point games
  • 20 third quarter points in Game 4
  • A game saving block in Game 4 that's one of the best defensive plays in NBA Finals history.
  • An alley-oop dunk that sealed Game 5
  • 50 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 blocks in the close out Game 6 where he went for another 20 points in the 3rd quarter

One of the most impressive Finals performances of all time.

But enough about the next great athlete in American sports, let's get to the idiots jumping off bridges.

I've been young, dumb, and drunk before but I don't think you could have ever talked me into jumping off a bridge to celebrate a championship. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but just take a second to think about what you're jumping into.

I've never done a chemical analysis myself of what's exactly in the Milwaukee River but it can't be good. It's probably not Chicago River bad but taking a chance on dysentery to show your love for your team. But that's just me.

I'm honestly surprised that this is as crazy as it got in Milwaukee. There is a report of 3 people being shot in Milwaukee last night, non-fatally, but that could have happened on any night in Milwaukee. I very much expected to wake up this morning with helicopter coverage of burning cars and mayhem but nope. Good job Milwaukee. This was good practice for what looks like what could happen again a few more times the next decade.
