Boylan’s Lowry adds his name to very short list
Boylan graduate Dean Lowry, now in his second season as a defensive lineman for the Green Bay Packers, scooped up a fumble today and returned it 62 yards for a touchdown.
It was a huge play for the Packers in a 26-20 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
The touchdown was a couple of "firsts in a while."
Lowry is the 17th player from the NIC-10 to play in either the NFL or old AFL. He was the first NIC-10er to score in a NFL game since Guilford's Carlos Polk got a safety for the Dallas Cowboys back in 2008.
Lowry was the first NIC-10er to score a touchdown since East's Ira Matthews scored on a 104-yard kickoff return for the Oakland Raiders against the San Diego Chargers in 1979.
Here's the complete list of NIC-10 leading scorers in the NFL.
