Anderson Japanese Gardens' Opening Day Celebration coincides with Children's Day in Japan, an occasion to respect children's personalities and to celebrate their happiness. The Opening Day Celebration allows visitors to experience a part of Japanese culture through child and family-centered activities. Highlights include:

Taiko Drum Performances - 11:00am & 2:00pm
Koto Performances (stringed instrument) - 12:00pm & 3:00pm
Okinawa Dance Performances - 10:00am & 1:00pm
Bujinkan (mixed martial arts) Demonstrations

Guest House Tours (one of only a few times the Guest House is open)
Calligraphy, Origami, Top Spinning, Dry Gravel Bed Raking
Iris Planting (children are encouraged to take iris home to plant)
Ikebana (flower arranging) and Bonsai Exhibits, Hanetsuki & Kendama
