Tim Peake is a British astronaut currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS), and he took a little time on Tuesday of this week to blow us all away with a time-lapse video of lightning striking our planet.

From Time:

The footage, which shows a series of electric bolts striking Earth, was captured over North Africa and Turkey as the ISS flew towards Russia, according to Peake. “Amazing how much lightning can strike our planet in a short time,” he wrote.

I happened upon another video that was shot aboard the ISS a few years back, called "All Alone in the Night," which features even more stunning time-lapse video of Earth:
