As anyone who listens to the show knows, Riley & I aren't all about breaking news and politics. There's time in the day to talk a little sports, music, and entertainment as well.

To that end, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with Dennis Dunaway about his new book Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs!which tracks the beginning of and rise to success for Alice Cooper.

Riding on a string of hits like I'm 18 and School's Out, Alice Cooper became America's highest-grossing act in the early 70s, producing four platinum albums and hitting number one on the U.S. chart with Billion Dollar Babies in 1973. Dunaway, the bassist and co-songwriter for the band, tells a story just as over-the-top crazy as their live shows.

As teenagers in Phoenix, Dennis Dunaway and lead singer Vince Furnier, who would later change his name to Alice Cooper, formed a band that played prisons, cowboy bars and teen clubs. The Alice Cooper group truly was entertaining, outrageous, and one-of-a-kind.

Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs! is the book and it's available now. Here's our chat with Dennis Dunaway:
