• Beloit police are investigating a death they say is a domestic-related homicide. Officers were called to a residence early this morning. Officials say that when officers arrived on the scene, 30 year old Peter Hemmy implicated himself in the killing of his father, Bruce Hemmy. The Beloit Daily News reports Peter Hemmy has been taken into custody.
  • A Stateline area woman allegedly crashed her car into a house in Beloit and is in custody for drunk driving. Police say Barbara Morgan was driving in the 1400 block of Moore Street and crashed into a home there. Officials say that the home didn't suffer significant damage. Morgan was charged with her 4th OWI, driving in the opposite lane, and a seatbelt violation.
  • Belvidere High School was put into a hard lockdown earlier today. Superintendent Dr. Michael Houselog says school administrators identified a situation involving a student that "they were uncertain of."  Due to the number of people around the incident, a hard lockdown was called. Our partners at Eyewitness news have learned that no weapons were involved and classes continued as scheduled.
  • Gay couples and their supporters plan rallies in Madison, Milwaukee and Racine on today before taking buses to Chicago to listen to arguments in Wisconsin's gay marriage lawsuit. Oral arguments will take place tomorrow before the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. The state is appealing a federal judge's June decision overturning Wisconsin's gay marriage ban. Hundreds of couples married in a week between the decision and an order putting it on hold.
  • Rockford Police have identified the victim who was hit by a car over the weekend as George Wiseman of Scotland.  There have been no updates to his condition. Officers responded to the 7600 block of East State Street after several calls of a vehicle-vs-pedestrian crash.  Officers located a male victim in the street.
  • About an hour after the media alert was issued for a missing Janesville man, Larry Lemere was found safe. Larry Lemere had been missing since Friday. Lemere does not own a car and typically, he rides the city bus.
  • Illinois Governor Pat Quinn vetoed a bill to further regulate ride sharing programs. He says local governments in Illinois should be able to adopt their own rules to regulate ridesharing companies, such as Uber. He's vetoed legislation setting up statewide rules for the industry that connects passengers and drivers through a smartphone app.
  • Chicago police say officers have shot and killed two people in separate incidents. Authorities say the first shooting happened Sunday evening when officers responded to reports of armed men in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. Officials say an officer shot the suspect after he pointed a gun at the officer. The second shooting happened about two hours later after officers investigating gunfire told a man to drop a weapon.
  • Republican governor candidate Bruce Rauner says he will continue to press for legislative term limits in Illinois even though the question won't be on the November ballot. Rauner led a petition drive for the ballot measure but courts ruled it unconstitutional.
