• The Illinois House is making another try at getting a one-month budget approved. A committee will have an afternoon hearing on a Senate plan to spend $2.3 billion to get the state through July. The House came up a few votes short on a similar plan last week.
  • UPDATE - Police say Mr. Coulter has been found safe and is back with his family. Family and Janesville police are searching for a missing elderly man, last seen Tuesday evening.  74-year old Harry Coulter was reported missing by his wife after last being seen around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. He suffers from a medical condition which may be the cause of his disappearance. He was last seen driving a blue 2006 Ford F150 truck with Wisconsin registration 190398. He is described as a white male, 5'6'' and 180lbs, with grey hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. His last known location was leaving St. Mary's Hospital at 3400 E. Racine Street in Janesville around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Henry Coulter should immediately contact the Rock County Communications Center at (608) 757-2244 or the Janesville Police Department at (608) 755-3100.
  • United Airlines planes are returning to the skies after a bumpy morning. Network connectivity problems kept the Chicago-based carrier temporarily grounded. United has been hit by technical issues twice in two months. Amtrak passenger train service between Chicago and St. Louis is resuming after four trains were canceled because of a freight train derailment Monday night.  No one was hurt in that accident.
  • A new special food and music event is coming to Rockton on Labor Day weekend at Settler’s Park.  "Brews and BBQ," will be headlined by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Bret Michaels. The event is being put on by Townsquare Media, owner of 1440WROK, in partnership with Rockton Lion's Club. Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 10th at 10 a.m.
  • A restoration team is testing different mixtures to fix cracks running through the 104-year-old Black Hawk statue overlooking the Rock River near Oregon at Lowden State Park.  A project engineer says the team will check back in about two weeks to see how they performed.  The Black Hawk is on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • The Boone County Coroner has identified the man killed in an early morning accident in Caledonia on Tuesday as 21-year old Keegan M. Minks of Poplar Grove.  Police believe speed was a factor in the crash on Quail Trap Road near Caledonia.  Minks was not wearing a seatbelt.
