You Can Now Get A Malort Latte In Chicago
Chicago's fascination with the most disgusting liqueur continues.
If you haven't had Malort, I honestly recommend trying it. It won't kill you but you'll finally understand what people are talking about. The taste is pretty hard to describe. I've heard people say they taste rotten grapefruit. I don't know about that. I've always described it as mid-grade whiskey that's been poured through a dirty gym sock.
No matter your description, it's pretty gross.
If you meet someone who says that they like it, they're probably lying or don't have any taste buds.
I have no idea why you would want to ruin a cup of coffee with it but I have no doubt that this will be a pretty popular drink in Chicago.
I do have one major problem with this. If you read the instagram post, you see that the owners of the coffee shop made the Malort syrup out of a bottle they got as a gift. They don't drink, so they didn't know what to do with the bottle and came up with this idea. A good chef wouldn't serve any food he wouldn't eat himself. These people have no idea what they're doing to the general public. Malort needs to come out with a special non-alcoholic version just so these people can get a taste.
Interested? Head out to Finom Coffee in Old Irving Park and ask for a "Chicago Style Latte." Just be sure to order something else as well because I have a feeling you won't be sipping on that for long.
