When you go on vacation, sometimes it's nice to visit someplace off the beaten path. Heck, you don't even have to go on an official vacation to enjoy a relaxing beach day, and I just found the perfect excuse to do exactly that.

Fireman's Park and Beach is home to a secluded swimming lagoon, which has undergone a major glow-up in the past few years.

This swimming hole was once a rock quarry, then it flooded and became a favorite swimming hole for locals. Verona officials then decided to officially turn the space into a legit recreation area, and from the looks of it, they've done an awesome job...

Not only does Fireman's Park and Beach in Verona have a beach and lagoon to swim in, but it also has a splash pad, a large playground, athletic fields, and a sheltered area to enjoy a picnic in. The splash pad is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the lifeguarded-beach is open from Noon to 6 p.m. (There is a small fee to enter the beach area).
