I can't tell you how many times I saw a fast food company testing out something I would love to try in a state that is hours away.

There is a soft spot in my heart for Diamond Dave restaurants. There used to be one in Quincy, Illinois and another in Keokuk, Iowa. I honestly thought they were completely gone, but low and behold I found one still hanging in there in Iowa. I also found a retro t-shirt, too.

Illinois is one of the best states for food so I'm not surprised that there are multiple taco joints ranked nationally.

Mexican food is very popular in the Rockford area and here are some of the residents' favorite places for tacos.

It's the biggest, most-followed 'Food Rule' in my life. I will never eat this particular Beloit restaurant's taco because of a disturbing childhood image.

Head to Guanajuato Grocery on the west side of Rockford for some of the best tacos you've ever had.

If you're looking for some delicious tacos, I suggest heading up to Wisconsin over the Windy City.

The Rockford area is heavily saturated with excellent spots to get a taco.

Drive west on Main St. through downtown Rockford. Once you get past the new Embassy Suites hotel go about another 4 minutes before you get to this gem of a taco shop on the west side of Rockford. Mi Ranchito.
