Illinois health officials have been joined by the Chicago and Northern Illinois Better Business Bureau (BBB) in warning Illinois residents to choose their testing site carefully.

At the end of last week, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White issued a warning to Illinoisans about two scams that have the same goal of defrauding people of their hard-earned money and stealing their personal information.

Even though this scam has been widely reported on, and in some cases arrests have been made, it's still happening enough that Commonwealth Edison issued a warning about it just days ago.

From driveway shoveling to furnace inspections and past due utility bill calls, cold weather scams run the gamut.

If that letter or call says that you've won a big jackpot, chance are you're about to be scammed out of some money.

Sharks aren't just found in bodies of salt water. The sharks that come to prey on you when disaster strikes are just as happy in fresh water--like the kind that's been pouring into your basement or through your damaged roof.

It's not that there's a single season that brings the scammers out, because really, they're trying to take your money, identification, and passwords all year long. It's just that summer offers scammers a few more opportunities than the other three seasons do.
