It is historically on of Rockford's largest manufacturers.

According to this video's description, Howard Colman, and inventor and entrepreneur and W. A. Barber, and investor, partnered together on many different products. The first Barber & Colman plant was on Rock Street in Rockford's Water Power District.

Barber-Colman building has been closed for many years but is a favorite place for explorers to visit.
