Another sad day for fans of delicious hometown food in and around Winnebago, Illinois. After 23 years of serving families, Toni's on N. Elida Street is closing.

It wasn't that long ago that the small community of Winnebago lost Anna's Pizza, now Toni's of Winnebago is closing, too.

Toni's of Winnebago Closing After 23 Years

Owner, Michelle Princer made the announcement via Facebook, saying:

"Toni's will be closing on September 28th. Please use any gift certificates before this date. Thank you Thank you Thank you for 23 awesome years. We appreciate the many many gifts you have shared with us through the years. It has been our joy to be part of this community."

Toni's last day of operation will be Tuesday, September 28. According to Michelle, it's a day she feels forced into.

Michelle says the owner of the building at 508 N. Elida Street, in addition to raising the rent, is also refusing to release her from a personal guarantee agreement, according to wifr.com.

“I think a person that’s been here for 23 years shouldn’t have to be signing a personal guarantee,” Princer said.

To keep Toni's open, she even made an offer to buy the building, but the non-negotiable price was too high.
